The Secretary General of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG), Iakovos Filippousis, represented ICMG at the Opening Ceremony of the 144th Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which took place on Tuesday, March 18, in Ancient Olympia.

Mr. Filippousis met and held discussions with many representatives of the Mediterranean sports community, as well as with officials from International Federations. Among them, were the President of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), Luciano Rossi, and the President of the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM), Rob Stull, with whom he exchanged views and ideas on sports-related matters.

He also had a constructive meeting with Riccardo Fraccari, President of the World Baseball Softball Confederation, who reiterated his interest in the inclusion of the two sports in the Mediterranean Games program.

A key topic in all discussions was the upcoming edition of the Mediterranean Games, which will be held in Taranto in 2026.

At the end of the event, Mr. Filippousis congratulated the members of the International Olympic Committee and the Hellenic Olympic Committee for the excellent organization of the Opening Ceremony of the 144th Session.
