The Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP) welcomed at its premises the cyclists Daniela Campos, João Almeida and Ruben Guerreiro, who recently achieved great success in international competitions.
Daniela Campos won three medals at the Junior European Track Championship, in Fiorenzuola d’Arda, Italy: gold in elimination, silver in points and bronze in omnium.
João Almeida wore the pink jersey of the Giro d’Italia leader for 15 days and was ranked 4th, the best classification ever achieved by a Portuguese cyclist. Also in the Giro d’Italia, Ruben Guerreiro won the mountain prize.
The president of the COP, José Manuel Constantino, spoke to the cyclists about the meaning of the results achieved: “Your triumphs have a special meaning for you, but they have also a great meaning for the country.”
