Trofeo CONI Winter 2025: Lombardy wins and scores a double after its summer triumph
February 8, 2026At the Belgrade hotel “Moskva,” where the Serbian Olympic Club was founded on February 23, 1910, the 116th anniversary of the Olympic Committee of Serbia was commemorated.
In keeping with a long-standing tradition, the President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, Dejan Tomašević, and the Minister of Sport, Zoran Gajić, laid a laurel wreath at the memorial plaque in front of Hotel “Moskva,” after which the national anthem of the Republic of Serbia was performed.
In his address to the guests, President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia Dejan Tomašević first reflected on the founder of the Olympic movement in Serbia, General Svetomir Đukić. On that occasion, President Tomašević highlighted Serbia’s rich Olympic heritage.
“Very few countries can say they have such a long Olympic tradition. And it is not only a matter of pride — it is also a great responsibility. Because tradition is meaningless if we remember it only on its anniversary. It has value only if we honor and uphold it every single day.”
President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia Dejan Tomašević and Paris 2024 Olympic taekwondo silver medalist Aleksandra Perišić cut the traditional Olympic cake together.
The celebration was also attended by the Minister of Environmental Protection, Sara Pavkov; the granddaughter of General Svetomir Đukić, Aleksandra Pavlović; as well as numerous distinguished guests from the world of sport, along with friends and partners of the Olympic Committee of Serbia.
On February 23, 116 years ago, on the fourth floor of the Belgrade hotel “Moskva,” in the editorial office of the newspaper “Novo vreme,” eighteen officers led by Svetomir Đukić founded the Serbian Olympic Club and laid the foundations of the Olympic Movement in the Kingdom of Serbia. On this occasion, the President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, Dejan Tomašević, the Minister of Sport, Zoran Gajić, and the Minister of Environmental Protection, Sara Pavkov, also visited the Olympic Room.
