February 24, 2026Clarity is now firmly established. A final timeline has been formally adopted and officially communicated to all Mediterranean National Olympic Committees. The organizational vision of the Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026 is now clear, structured, and fully operational.

This momentum follows the institutional meetings led by the 1rst vice-president and Acting President of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games, Mehrez Boussayene, and the Secretary General, Iakovos Filipoussis, notably on the sidelines of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, as well as during the working sessions held on Monday in Taranto with the Organizing Committee and the Italian authorities, in the presence of the Italian Minister for Sport and Youth, Mr. Andrea Abodi.

For the Mediterranean Family, the outcome confirms the Taranto2026 stakeholders engagement to their institutional commitment to deliver an edition fully aligned with the founding principles, the qualitative standards and the legacy-oriented vision of the Mediterranean sports movement.
Following these meetings:
-The final structuring contracts were concluded
-Organizational commitments were consolidated
-Operational milestones were definitively validated
The roadmap to the Games is now clearly defined.
Key dates:
– March 2, 2026: Official opening of the accreditation platform
– March 26–27, 2026: Chefs de Mission Meeting
– August 21 – September 3, 2026: Mediterranean Games in Taranto
These milestones structure the progressive build-up toward the summer of 2026 and provide National Delegations with clear visibility for their sporting, administrative, and logistical planning.
