The President of the Maltese Olympic Committee (MOC), Julian Pace Bonello and the President of the Croatian Olympic Committee (COC), Zlatko Mateša, officially signed a Memorandum of Cooperation at the Maltese Olympic Committee Headquarters in Gzira.

The signing establishes a legal framework that enables systematic exchanges of coaches, athletes, and experts, as well as the sharing of professional knowledge, experience, and best sports practices. The document sets guidelines to strengthen bilateral relations through joint training camps, application of sports medicine and technology, and the development of athletes through educational programs.

President Pace Bonello noted that:

“For Malta, this is an extremely important step as it allows us to exchange experiences with a successful sporting nation like Croatia. Cooperation with the COC through the Memorandum of Cooperation will open new doors for our athletes and provide opportunities to grow and contribute together to the Olympic movement. This initiative further strengthens the friendly relations between our committees and represents an important contribution to the development of sport in the region, fostering long-term collaboration and a positive sporting culture between the two countries.”

President Mateša emphasized:

“This Memorandum of Cooperation symbolizes our mutual commitment to creating conditions for excellence among our athletes and strengthening the ties between our Olympic communities. The Croatian Olympic Committee sees the Maltese Olympic Committee as a partner with whom we can build bridges between our sporting cultures and jointly develop projects that benefit not only athletes but society as a whole. This cooperation is highly significant for further strengthening good relations between our committees and encourages mutual support in the development of sport in both countries.”

The signing follows a successful 45th EOC Seminar and Olympic Solidarity Forum which took in place in Malta and was attended by representatives of European Olympic Committees.
