The Flame of Peace torch relay of the 2nd European Games reached Minsk on 17 June. Four-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva, Olympic canoe sprint champion Aleksandr Bogdanovich and track and field world champion Marina Arzamasova carried the torch to State Flag Square in the Belarusian capital.
A concert starring popular Belarusian singers entertained over 2,000 fans, who welcomed the flame.
The torch was handed over to Minsk Mayor Anatoly Sivak, Belarus National Olympic Committee Acting First Vice President Viktor Lukashenko and Minister of Sport & Tourism Sergei Kovalchuk.
The Minsk 2019 most iconic symbol was then passed to three-time Olympic freestyle wrestling champion Alexander Medved, who finally handed it over to the youngest generation of Belarusian athletes: sambo wrestler Stsiapan Papou and track and field athletes Elvira Herman and Volha Mazuronak.
After being lit in Rome on 3 May, the torch reached the top of Mont Blanc and travelled around Europe. It will end its journey in the Dinamo Stadium on 21 June, where it will light the 1980 Olympic cauldron.
