The Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP) signed a cooperation agreement with the Navy and the “Foundation of the Seas” for the development of the Olympic education in water sports, sustainability and preservation of aquatic ecosystems.

The agreement was signed by the COP President, José Manuel Constantino and the Secretary General, José Manuel Araújo. The Navy was represented by Vice-Admiral Edgar Bastos Ribeiro, director of the Navy’s Cultural Commission, which administers the activities of the Vasco da Gama Aquarium. The  Chairman of the Board of Directors, of the  “Foundation of the Seas”  João Almeida Lopes, was also present.

The COP undertakes this initiative to support the development and promotion of the Olympic education project in the area of water sports based on the values of the preservation and the sustainability of the marine environment.
