The Egyptian Olympic Committee conducted its first-ever elections for the Athletes’ Commission.

Modern pentathlon Olympic silver medalist Ahmed El-Gendy was elected unopposed as the head of the Commission. Τwenty two athletes participated in the elections coming from different sports. Great athletes were elected unopposed including swimmer Farida Osman, fencer Ziad El Sisi, handball player Mohamed Alaa, basketball player Anas Osama, judoka Ramadan Darwish, and boxer Abdel Rahman Arabi.

Following the elections, five members were selected to join the commission’s board, with El-Gendy appointed as President, Azmi Mahlaba (shooting) will serve as First Deputy President while Nouran Gohar (squash) will be the Second Deputy President.

Doaa Elghobashy (volley and beach volleyball) and Mohamed Alaa (handball) will both serve as General Assembly members. These elections represent a significant step toward enhancing athlete representation in the EOC’s decision-making processes.
