Legendary artistic gymnast Miroslav Cerar, who turned 80 on 28 October, has been named ambassador of the Slovenian team for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

On the occasion of his birthday, an exhibition on his sport and life achievements was held in the Ljubljana Town Hall.
Cerar will lead the Slovenian Olympic team next year in the Japan’s capital, where he won two gold medals in pommel horse and horizontal bar at the 1964 Olympics. Along with Leon Štukelj (1898-1999), Cerar is known as one of the greatest Slovenian and Yugoslav gymnasts of all time. He was also inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City in 1999.
