
The success of the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games in numbers
September 5, 2026The International Committee of Mediterranean Games (ICMG) , In the framework of the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games, held a meeting with the President of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF), Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, reaffirming the excellent relationship between the two organizations and their shared commitment to the development of sport throughout the Mediterranean region.
The meeting was attended by the newly elected ICMG President Francesco Purromuto, First Vice President Mehrez Boussayene, Second Vice President Bernard Amsalem, Secretary General Iakovos Filippousis and Treasurer Yiotis Ioannides.
During the discussions, both sides highlighted the strong ties between the ICMG and the French Olympic Committee, which are also reflected in the re-election of Bernard Amsalem as Second Vice President of the ICMG for the 2026–2030 term.
The participants reaffirmed their determination to continue their close cooperation for the benefit of sport and youth across the Mediterranean, promoting the values of friendship, solidarity and peaceful coexistence that define the Mediterranean Movement.
The meeting also explored opportunities to further strengthen France’s involvement in ICMG activities, including the possibility of the French Olympic Committee considering a future bid to host a Mediterranean Games event.
Held in a warm and constructive atmosphere, the meeting confirmed the shared willingness of all parties to work together towards an even stronger future for the Mediterranean Movement.
