The elections for the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG) Athletes’ Commission concluded successfully during the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games, with a strong turnout and participation from athletes competing at the Games.

A total of 1,186 athletes cast their votes, demonstrating the commitment of Mediterranean athletes to strengthening their representation within the ICMG and contributing to the future development of the Mediterranean Games movement.

Following the counting of the ballots, the four elected members of the ICMG Athletes’ Commission, listed in alphabetical order, are:

• Sašo Bertoncelj (Slovenia, Gymnastics)
• Sid Ali Boudina (Algeria, Rowing)
• Tamila Holub (Portugal, Swimming)
• Konstantina Nicolaou (Cyprus, Shooting)

Τhese four members will join the members that elected in the Heraklion 2023 Beach Games, Karla Sitic (Croatia, Swimming) and Anastasios Mylonakis (Greece, Finswimming

Following the announcement of the results, the newly elected Commission held its first meeting and elected its leadership. Sašo Bertoncelj was unanimously chosen as Chairman of the ICMG Athletes’ Commission, while Tamila Holub was elected Vice-Chairwoman.

The new Athletes’ Commission will serve as the voice of Mediterranean athletes within the ICMG, promoting athletes’ interests, contributing to decision-making processes and supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing the athletes’ experience at future editions of the Mediterranean Games.
