The commemorative ceremony of ICMG for its late President Davide Tizzano
August 21, 2026About 100,000 tickets have already been sold to attend the events — a testament to the response from across Puglia — with the Organizing Committee, in providing this figure, recalling the scale of an event involving four provinces and thirteen cities. It will be fifteen days of sport, with events scheduled through September 3rd.
Thirty-three sporting disciplines are spread across twenty-eight competition venues. Twenty-six nations are participating, joined by the delegation of Athletica Vaticana.
There are 37 Olympic medalist athletes present at the XX Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026. The group is made up of 20 men and 17 women.
A total of 1,853 medals will be awarded: 588 gold, the same number of silver, and 677 bronze. There are 273 finals scheduled. Two disciplines are making their debut in the history of the Mediterranean Games: roller skating and padel. There are 3,803 registered athletes, of whom 2,189 are men and 1,614 are women. San Marino is the only delegation with a female presence greater than its male one. Italy is the country with the largest number of participants, 497, followed by Turkey with 335. Athletics is the discipline with the most entrants, 435, and the one in which the most medals will be awarded, 132. Three thousand volunteers are involved in the Games, selected from over 11,000 applicants.
