
Passing the Torch: MOC Launches Women in Sport Mentorship Programme
April 13, 2026The Annual General Assembly of the Albanian National Olympic Committee (KOKSH) was held in Tirana, marking a key moment for reflecting on the past year and defining the strategic direction of the Olympic movement in Albania.
In his address, President Fidel Ylli presented a comprehensive analysis of the work carried out during 2025, highlighting significant achievements by Albanian athletes on the international stage, the growing role of Albania in sports diplomacy, and the commitment to expanding the base of sport in the country.
Particular emphasis was placed on the “Sports Teams in Schools” project as a strategic initiative aimed at mass participation in sport and the identification of new talent, making sport an important part of young people’s lives.
President Ylli also praised the role of the sports federations and their presidents, underlining that the results achieved are the outcome of cooperation, professionalism, and shared dedication to the development of Albanian sport.
The Assembly was also addressed by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, who emphasized the successful partnership with KOKSH and the federations, ensuring continued support and concrete steps from the Albanian government to strengthen infrastructure and increase investment in sport.
During the event, Olympic Orders were also awarded to six prominent figures of Albanian sport: Nikolin Dionisi, Hektor Shaqiri, Gëzim Zeneli, Sabri Bejleri, Liljana Bejleri, and Hysen Omi, in recognition of their outstanding contribution over the years as athletes, coaches, and administrators.
