The annual Awards Ceremony of the Cyprus Olympic Committee
March 12, 2026During a ceremony marked by beauty, brilliance and emotion, the Hellenic Olympic Committee paid tribute to the protagonists of the Olympic Flame Ceremonies and the Torch Relay organized in the framework of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
All of them worked on a voluntary basis, giving their very best and contributing to the great success of these events, which placed Greece in the international spotlight. This was emphasized in his speech by the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Isidoros Kouvelos.
“Today, we honor the artistic team of the Flame ceremonial: the choreographer, the priestesses and the kouroi, who with sensitivity and dedication shaped a universal message. We also honor the artists and musicians, the soprano, the presenter, as well as the Italian School of Athens for their essential contribution. We salute our volunteers and the staff of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, a discreet yet indispensable force behind every organization, as well as the partners of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, who accompanied us with trust and generosity,” he stated.

The President of the Olympic Flame Relay Commission of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Thomas Tokas, also highlighted the collective effort that led to the successful organization of the ceremonies: “Each of you contributed your own piece to the whole. You devoted personal time and contributed with your talent, knowledge and personality. Despite particularly difficult weather conditions, the ceremonies were successfully carried out with remarkable results. From the beginning, an alternative operational scenario had been prepared in case of bad weather; a plan that was successfully activated in both cases.”
In addition to the choreographer Artemis Ignatiou, the High Priestess Mary Mina, the priestesses, the kouroi and the young priestesses, the production assistants, the composer Dimitris Papadimitriou, the performers and the artistic teams, the Hellenic Olympic Committee also honored the volunteers and partners who supported the Olympic Flame Ceremonies and the Torch Relay.
