The Joint Meeting between the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG) and the Organizing Committee of “Taranto 2026” marked a significant milestone in preparations for the upcoming Mediterranean Games. The President of the Organizing Committee “Taranto 2026” Massimo Ferrarese presented the report on the progress of public works and tenders for the next edition of the Mediterranean Games and analyzed the construction and renovation works of all the facilities.
Giuseppe Di Palo on behalf of the OC Taranto 2026, presented the project for the new Rowing Center for Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games. The construction will begin next Mars, and the works will be concluded in 11 months.
The President of the International Committee of Mediterranean Games Davide Tizzano highlighted the dedication of the Organizing Committee “Taranto 2026” in setting a high standard for the organization of this prestigious event. The commitment to excellence, coupled with the government’s logistical and financial backing, reflects Italy’s determination to showcase its capacity to host international sporting competitions of the highest caliber.
ICMG Secretary General Ιakovos Filippousis praised “the active involvement of the Italian government in the organization of the 2026 Mediterranean Games, starting with the appointment of the OCMG Taranto2026 President and Commissioner Massimo Ferrarese and the approval of the initial budget in excess of 300 million euros and reaffirmed with the signing of the MoU between the OCMG and “Sport e Salute” and the participation of Valeria Panzironi and her team in the joint meeting today”. He also highlighted that “all stakeholders, the Italian Olympic Committee, the Italian government, the Municipality of Taranto and the Organizing Committee now enjoy an excellent collaboration, in unity and full commitment in delivering the best Games ever.Time flies, but we are confident that Taranto will be ready at the opening ceremony day so as offer to our athletes an unforgettable experience”.
