The President of the Portuguese National Olympic Committee, José Manuel Constantino, has been handed the SIGA Special Recognition Award, the highest honour conferred for relevant services in the field of Sport Integrity.
The attribution of this Special Recognition Award was approved, by unanimity by both the SIGA Council and the General Assembly, composed of all SIGA members and committed supporters. SIGA is the world´s largest coalition in the field of sport´s governance and integrity.
The ceremony took place during a high-level event held in Lisbon, Portugal, with the participation of more than 50 guests, including the Secretary of State for Youth and Sport of Portugal, João Paulo Rebelo, the presidents and senior representatives from the most relevant Portuguese sports organisations.
Grateful for SIGA’s recognition José Manuel Constantino stated: “Throughout my training and my professional life, I had the privilege of sharing my life and my thoughts with great individuals. Now, I am only the leader of a team and therefore this prize must be shared with the presidents of the sporting federations and COP’s executives and personel. I thank Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros and SIGA for this special recognition.”
