The Assembly of the Portuguese Republic unanimously adopted a resolution congratulating the Portuguese delegations to the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 for the results achieved.
The members who were present at the plenary session of the Assembly applauded the delegations of the two committees.
President José Manuel Constantino headed the delegation of the Portuguese Olympic Committee, which also included the Secretary General, José Manuel Araújo, the Head of the Olympic Delegation, Marco Alves, the Director of Communication, António Varela and the Coordinator of the Office of athletes of the Olympic Athletes’ Commission, Ricardo Bendito.
In Tokyo 2020, the Portuguese team achieved the best results at the Olympics, winning four medals: one gold (Pedro Pichardo, Athletics, triple jump), one silver (Patricia Mamona, Athletics, triple jump) and two bronze medals (Jorge Fonseca, Judo, -100 kg and Fernando Pimenta, Canoe, K1 1000).
