The two-day international seminar on gender equality in sports, held on Saturday, October 10th in Zagreb, ended with the conclusions pointing out that gender equality is not only a women’s issue.
This international seminar, hosted by the Croatian Olympic Committee, was attended by more than twenty representatives of sports institutions of the Mediterranean bassin’s countries; Albania, Cyprus, Egypt, Macedonia, Malta, Montenegro, Algeria, Tunisia, Turkiye, Monaco. Among them, there were also the five-time Olympian, member of the European Olympic Committees’ (EOC) Executive Board, President of the EOC’s Commission and President of the Lithuanian Olympic Committee Daina Gudzineviciute, golden Olympian in shooting in Sydney in 2000 and quadruple Paralympian Ana Sršen, member of the Croatian Paralympic Committee’s (HPO) Executive Board and other top names of international sports.
The international seminar – organized by the Croatian Olympic Committee’s Department for International Relations along with the guidance of Ljiljana Ujlaki Šubić and support of the Commission for Women in Sports led by its President Morana Paliković Gruden who is also the Vice-President of the Croatian Olympic Committee and the International Committee of Mediterranean Games (ICMG) – stressed the constant need to solve all the problems that are manifested in gender (in)equality in the society, especially in sports.
